Terms of Service
Last Updated: April 7, 2026
Welcome to Afkode. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our desktop application, website, backend services, and related tools (collectively, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using Afkode, you agree to these Terms.
1. What Afkode Is
Afkode is a desktop application that helps software developers plan and build features by orchestrating AI coding tools on their behalf. It runs on your computer and connects to third-party AI providers (such as Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's Codex, Google's Gemini, and Kimi) using your own credentials or subscriptions.
Afkode is an orchestration tool — it constructs prompts, manages planning workflows, and coordinates code generation. The actual code is written by the AI providers you configure, not by us.
2. Accounts and Free Trial
a. Account Creation: You create an account by signing up with your email address through the desktop app.
b. Free Trial: New accounts receive a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required to start the trial.
c. Subscriptions: After the trial, continued access requires an active subscription. We offer lifetime, monthly, and annual plans. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. You can manage your subscription from within the app.
d. Payments: All payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your payment card details. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's terms. Fees are exclusive of applicable taxes.
e. Refunds: We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you're not satisfied, contact us within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.
3. Your Responsibilities
- You must be of legal age to agree to these Terms (or have parental/guardian consent).
- You are responsible for all activity on your account.
- You are responsible for providing and configuring your own AI provider credentials (API keys or CLI subscriptions). Afkode does not provide AI access — it orchestrates AI tools you already have.
- You are responsible for the security of your device, your account credentials, and any AI provider credentials stored locally by the app.
- You agree to use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws.
4. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Share your account with others or allow unauthorized access.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose.
- Build a competing product or service using our technology.
- Overload our servers through excessive or abusive usage.
5. AI-Generated Code — Your Responsibility
This is the most important section to understand:
- Afkode orchestrates third-party AI tools to generate code, plans, and documentation ("Generated Content"). We do not write the code ourselves. The code is generated by the AI provider you configured (Claude, Codex, Gemini, Kimi, etc.).
- You are solely responsible for reviewing, testing, validating, and deciding whether to use any Generated Content. This includes checking for bugs, security vulnerabilities, license compliance, correctness, and fitness for your intended purpose.
- We make no guarantees about the quality, accuracy, security, completeness, or suitability of any Generated Content. AI-generated code may contain errors, introduce security vulnerabilities, violate third-party licenses, or produce unexpected results.
- We are not liable for any damage, loss, or harm caused by Generated Content — including but not limited to data loss, security breaches, system failures, financial losses, or legal claims arising from the use of AI-generated code in your projects.
- By using Afkode, you accept that you bear full responsibility for any code that is committed to your repositories, deployed to production, or used in any capacity, regardless of whether it was generated by an AI tool orchestrated through our Service.
6. Intellectual Property
a. Our IP: The Afkode application, its design, branding, prompts, planning workflows, and backend services are our intellectual property. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service while your subscription is active.
b. Your Content: You retain all ownership of the code, descriptions, and other information you provide to the Service.
c. Generated Content: You own the Generated Content and may use it for any purpose, including commercial use. However, you accept full responsibility for it as described in Section 5.
d. License to Us: To operate the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your inputs (project descriptions, planning answers) for the purpose of generating prompts and improving the Service. We do not claim ownership of your inputs or outputs.
7. Third-Party Services
Afkode relies on third-party services to function. By using our Service, you acknowledge:
- AI Providers: Your project context is sent to whichever AI provider you configure. We are not responsible for how these providers handle your data. You should review their terms and privacy policies independently.
- Stripe: Handles all payment processing.
- Supabase: Stores account data and synced planning documents.
- Mixpanel: Processes anonymized usage analytics (EU data residency, opt-out available).
8. Local Filesystem Access
Afkode operates on your local machine and performs the following actions with your explicit project selection:
- Reads files in your project directory to build context for AI prompts.
- Creates git worktrees in a dedicated directory to isolate AI-generated changes from your main branch.
- Writes files generated by AI tools to your project worktrees.
- Runs git commands (commit, merge, branch operations) on your behalf.
These operations only affect the projects you explicitly add to Afkode. The app does not scan or access files outside your selected project directories.
9. Disclaimers and "AS IS" Service
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
- We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
- We do not guarantee that AI-generated content will be correct, safe, or suitable for any purpose.
- We are not responsible for issues caused by your operating system, network, AI provider outages, or any other third-party tools.
- We are not responsible for any data loss on your local machine, including accidental overwrites of files by AI-generated code.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Afkode shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to damages for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- Your use of or inability to use the Service.
- Any AI-generated code, plans, or documentation produced through the Service.
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data.
- Any third-party conduct or content, including AI provider outputs.
11. Termination
a. By You: You may stop using Afkode at any time by cancelling your subscription and uninstalling the app. Your local data remains on your machine.
b. By Us: We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your license to use the Service ends immediately.
12. Changes to the Service
We may modify, update, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We are not liable for any changes or discontinuation.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without regard to conflict of law provisions. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Rome, Italy.
